Packing & Moving
|August 2, 2013||Filled under Living the Dream, Running|
Packing and moving is officially in full swing. My parents arrive later today to help me pack up the truck and by Sunday night, I’ll officially be a Marylander again. It’s crazy that I only have two more full days of living in Ohio. It’s the end of an era…but I’m trying hard not to think too hard about it. I might cry!
The actual packing is really hard work. Pulling things out, organizing, and packing them into boxes has been keeping me busy all week and has really been my main exercise. (This is my terrible excuse for only running once this week.)
I’ve tried my best to get everything to the first floor so moving will be easier, but I got really overwhelmed and had to stop. I’ll finish the rest when my parents get here. They’ve done this a bunch of times so they’re old pros at this whole process.
Keeping with the fitness friday theme, I’m excited to be taking part in the August Core Focus Challenge over at Sneakers and Fingerpaints. Day 1′s exercise was the Bridge.
I think I did alright! I ended up doing two 2-minute holds with 10 seconds rest, and then one 8 minute hold, for a total of 10 minutes. I got caught up with the TV show I was watching and realized I was way past two minutes, so I just went for the even 8.

I also got out for a run thanks to my original runny buddy from grad school, Megan. We were discussing whether we would ever run a full marathon and I realized that I hadn’t even run yet this week, so how would I ever train for a full?
I was way too excited to get out at the start of the run so I ran a great (and waaaay too fast) first mile and then slowed down to a much slower pace for the rest. Nothing quite like positive splits on a short run – heh.
It felt really great to get out there, especially since it is probably the last time I will get the run that particular path. I’ve got plans to run a bit longer today on my other favorite path. These are like my goodbye runs….and that makes me so sad. Again, not thinking about it! I. Will. Not. Cry.
I’m also 3 miles behind my friend Megan on our August Race to 50 Miles challenge through the Nike+ app. She is a much more consistent runner than I am, so she’ll probably beat me, but darn it if I won’t give her a run for her money!
Happy Fitness Friday!
