My Fancy New Job!
|August 16, 2013||Filled under Working|
After leaving my job at the Ohio Environmental Council to move to Maryland, I honestly thought I would have to deal with unemployment for at least a month or two, if not longer. The job market is rough, and even though the MD/DC area has great opportunities, there is also a ton of competition.
But I’m proud to finally share my amazing news!
I got a new job!!
I had my mom take a picture of me on my first day just like she used to on my first day of school. How do I look?
[ Necklace - Charming Charlie | Shirt - LOFT | Pants - LOFT | Shoes - Macy's | Bag - Coach (a gift!) ]
I waited a bit to mention my new job because I’ve been so afraid to jinx it. It just seemed too good to be true!
Before I even left Ohio, I was talking with an environmental nonprofit in DC and ended up meeting with them in person two days after moving back to Maryland – and they offered me the job! I’m absolutely thrilled.
Sure, I won’t have a 5 minute commute anymore, but I’m back working and doing what I love. I’ll be doing their communications, similar to my previous position, but on a much larger, more international scale. And I couldn’t be happier!
I’m still shocked at how fast it all happened. And what’s more, I got this job after submitting my resume and cover letter to an online listing. I honestly didn’t think that still worked! I’ll definitely be putting together a post series on the process I went through in getting this job because I know it can be a struggle for those still looking, and even the smallest detail could make all the difference.
Wish me luck!
