EcoTrek Fitness Whole Food Bars {Giveaway}

As someone who likes to snack throughout the workday, protein and fitness bars have always seemed like a good option for me. This is especially true around 3pm when I just need that little extra bit to get me through until dinner. My problem is that I can rarely find healthy protein bars that I like. The reason being, there are a just so many things that go into making a protein bar enjoyable to eat. It has to taste good, have an appealing texture, not be too chewy, and ideally be not a full meal’s worth of calories. As I said, it’s hard to find all of these things in a single package.

Recently, I was offered a sample of EcoTrek Fitness Whole Food Bars in exchange for a review, and I was really, really impressed with them. You may recognize them from my post on Tuesday about things I’m currently loving, and these have definitely earned their spot on that list.

The EcoTrek Fitness Whole Food Bars were created by Cari Draft, owner of the Michigan-based EcoTrek Fitness, and are vegan and dairy-free, and include only gluten-free ingredients. Read their story here.

I received three different flavors: Dark Chocolate Raspberry, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Dark Chocolate Toasted Coconut.

I tried the coconut one first (my favorite), around 11am on a workday. I was starving but it wasn’t quite lunch time yet so I figured I’d try one of these guys to tie me over until then. I broke a piece off and told myself, just this until after lunch. Just this small piece.

How naive I was.

The first thing I noticed was the texture: soft and melty, like a perfect brownie. And I was blown away by the taste. It was seriously like eating a brownie, and the coconut was present, but not the main event, which made it a perfect accent to the dark chocolate flavor.

That’s something else I loved: It was made with dark chocolate! Not that milk chocolate junk. And best of all, none of that terrible, chalky protein-bar taste I’ve come to expect.

Yeah, that bar didn’t even last ten minutes. I have no self-control. It was delicious. And I don’t think I ended up eating lunch until about 1pm, so it kept me full too!

So good texture and good taste. Alright, we’re getting there. How about nutrition?

The full bar comes to 195 calories. For a between-meal snack, that’s not bad. You can check out the full nutrition facts and ingredient on the EcoTrek Fitness Bars website. But in terms of vitamins and minerals, that’s a whole lot of 100%s! I’d imagine all that goodness comes from the “six servings of fruits & vegetables” in each bar advertised on the wrappers.

I’m pretty sold on these guys. Delicious, good for you, and they won’t ruin a meal (even if you can’t control yourself…). What’s not to love?!

Now let me pass on the love to you — how about a giveaway! Enter below to win a box (6 bars) of the flavor of your choice!
